Recognising styles: Eyes vs. Algorithms

UPDATE: here’s the video (Italian language)

Saturday November 10th at 1.45 pm the Google Arena at the IF Festival in Milan will host a fascinating confrontation on the future of fashion and design.
Paolo Ferrarini, coolhunter, professor and researcher and Luca Morena, Nextatlas CEO and co-founder, will be exploring the hot topic of AI and of how a learned machine fares against a skilled professional when it comes to figuring out fashion and interior design styles (previously: Fashion Weeks the way you want them; How to handle large archive challenges)

IF festival will take place @ Base Milano from November 8 to 10, the main theme will be #HumanIntelligence

‘Big data’: The human brain has the potential to store one petabyte, that is,
one million gigabytes. It is an exceptional tool and today still remains the
most powerful processor in the world, able not only to store, manage and
interpret information but also to combine with infinite originality elements
that are distinct and seemingly incongruous, thus giving shape to a unique
heritage: the creative idea.
In this fifth year of IF! we continue to celebrate the sparks of intuition and
inspiration, in order to understand their origins and their limitless potential.
The festival is a proud celebration of the extraordinary uniqueness of
human ingenuity, a tireless generator of ever-differing realities,
today also including virtual
reality
